It’s holiday season! You see the decorations and holiday
cheer as you enter most retails stores around Nashville, especially Green Hills
and Cool Springs. So as the season approaches and people begin to celebrate,
what how should you protect your floors from tinsel and cheer? Well, here are
some things to consider:
Consider snow and ice
— Even as early as Thanksgiving, snow and ice can be a factor (don’t rule it
out Nashvillians). The harsher the elements, the more people will trek those
elements in from outside. Be prepared with rugs or mats at entryways, even if
you have carpet. Floors like hardwoods and vinyl can become slippery, which in
turn can become hazardous for customers and/or guests. In addition, the ice and
snow (and salt that comes with it) could potentially damage your floors.
Consider feasting
— A lot of great food is involved when the holidays approach, even in offices
and other commercial areas. Whether you’re hosting a dinner at home or a potluck
at the office, cranberry sauce stains or pumpkin pie residue can be left behind
in the carpet. Keep carpet cleaner around in case of an emergency. If you have
hardwoods or linoleum, be sure to clean up immediately to avoid stains or
damage.
Consider decorations
— Pine needles and tinsel can take over your floor in the throws of the
holidays. Whether you have carpet, hardwood or linoleum, it all can become a

sure not to walk around barefoot in case of prickly objects.
